Type Network ❤ Variable Fonts
OpenType Variations is a new font technology that allow multiple font styles to coexist in a single font file. Variable fonts have the potential to greatly improve font loading performance while giving designers access to a wide range of typographic possibilities.
Even though the initial specification was just introduced and support for the new format is still forthcoming, Type Network partners are already experimenting with the new format. Below are some of their projects:
Amstelvar
A parametric variable font by David Berlow
Decovar
A multistyle decorative variable font by David Berlow
Dunbar
A geometric sans with variable weight and x-height
Fit
Filling space with maximum impact
